DANUBEcare Workshop Showcased Innovative Applications of Crayfish Biomass
The workshop “Innovations with Crayfish: From Raw Material to Product” was successfully held at the Institute of Food Technology, University of Novi Sad, bringing together representatives of industry, researchers, and other stakeholders interested in sustainable innovation and the valorization of invasive species.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest results of the DANUBEcare project and explore the diverse possibilities of utilizing spiny-cheek crayfish (Faxonius limosus) meat and shells. The workshop highlighted innovative applications in food production, animal feed, wastewater treatment, and the development of sustainable packaging materials, demonstrating how an invasive species can be transformed into a valuable resource through a circular economy approach.
The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary discussions, and networking between academia and industry, fostering future collaboration and encouraging the development of sustainable, science-based solutions.
